It was during his teenage years that Chad Rufer discovered a passion for music and became involved with his high school’s radio station KWDM in Des Moines, Iowa. At the ripe age of sixteen, he had his first real radio job hosting a Saturday night “Party Song” show on Adult Contemporary station KLYF and anchoring news on its sister station WHO-AM. From a weekend board operator to a Vice President of Programming for one of the most respected radio groups in the world, Chad’s 30+ years of radio experience have proven him to be a well-respected member of the industry. He has been included in RADIO INK's list of "Best Program Directors in America" each year since 2019 and listed as one of "Country Radio's Top Program Directors" each year since 2023.
After working in cities across the country – Des Moines, IA; Fort Myers, FL; Clarksville, TN; Colorado Springs, CO – he has found a love of Sacramento, CA and the people who make this city great. In his free time, Chad and his wife Karen enjoy everything Northern California has to offer. They have a love for delicious food and even better wine and can often be found wandering through the wineries of Napa or running the many trails throughout the area. When they’re not taking in the joys of wine country, Chad and Karen have a fondness for traveling the world. They agree that their engagement on the canal of Venice was the most beautiful, but their wine adventures in Argentina have been the most fun. Don't be fooled, there is more to Chad than just delicious food and even better wine – he also holds a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon-Do and has had his pilot’s license for close to 22 years.
